Choosing Your Ironing Line Configuration
Not every laundry operation needs the same setup. The right ironing line configuration depends on your daily linen volume, available floor space, and heating infrastructure.
Small operations (hotels under 200 rooms / clinics): A 1–2 roll Y Series ironer (working width 1,400–2,800 mm, speed 3–20 m/min) paired with a GSB feeder and basic stacking system handles moderate daily volumes with a compact footprint. Electric heating is practical if gas or steam supply is limited.
Mid-size operations (200–500 room hotels / regional commercial laundries): A 3–4 roll configuration (speed up to 35 m/min, steam consumption 300–400 kg/h) provides the throughput to process daily linen loads in a single shift. Steam heating is standard at this scale where boiler infrastructure already exists.
High-volume operations (large laundry centers / linen rental businesses): 5–6 roll configurations (speed 10–60 m/min, steam consumption 500–600 kg/h) are specified for continuous operation. Typical output: Y Series 5-roll processes approximately 130–150 bed sheets per hour; the YH Series 6-roll configuration reaches 200–250 sheets per hour under continuous operation. The YH Series thick-drum option is recommended for operations where throughput cannot be interrupted by temperature fluctuation. Steam, Electric, or Gas — Which Heating Method Fits Your Facility
Y Series flatwork ironers support all three heating methods on the same roller frame. The choice depends on your existing infrastructure:
- Steam (YZ): Lowest operating cost per kilogram of linen where a boiler already exists. Requires 0.4–0.6 MPa supply pressure — compatible with standard laundry boiler systems. Best for operations processing 300+ kg/h.
- Electric (YD): No boiler required. Suitable for facilities without steam supply or where installation cost of gas lines is prohibitive. Available on 1–4 roll configurations (40–160 kW heating load).
- Gas (YQ): LPG or natural gas supply. Gas consumption: 6 m³/h (1-roll) to 36 m³/h (6-roll). Practical for regions where steam infrastructure is unavailable but gas is cost-effective. Available across the full 1–6 roll range.
YH Series — Consistent Quality at Maximum Speed
For operations running ironers at continuous high throughput, the YH Series heavy-duty thick-drum flatwork ironer complements the standard Y Series.
The difference is in the roller wall thickness: standard Y Series rollers use 4 mm walls; YH Series uses 8 mm stainless steel or 12 mm carbon steel construction. Thicker walls store more thermal energy — when wet linen passes through at high speed, the roller surface temperature remains stable rather than dropping, maintaining consistent press quality without reducing line speed.
The YH Series uses the same direct-line roller structure as the Y Series — no complex S-path routing — keeping maintenance straightforward and remote troubleshooting practical for overseas operations.
