THE CHALLENGE
Launching a Professional Laundry in an Underserved Market
A first-time laundry business owner in Lagos, Nigeria faced the daunting task of entering an industry with no prior experience. The local market was dominated by manual laundry operations — presenting a significant opportunity to serve hotels and restaurants with professional-grade quality, but also meaning there were few local experts to consult.
The owner needed complete guidance from equipment selection to facility layout planning. Budget constraints required maximizing value per dollar without compromising on throughput capacity. Adding to the complexity, the unreliable local power supply meant all equipment had to be compatible with generator backup — a critical requirement that ruled out many standard configurations.
THE SOLUTION
Full Turnkey Consulting — From Capacity Planning to Remote Installation
HOZO provided full turnkey consulting, starting with a thorough capacity analysis based on the owner’s target client base and projected growth. An AutoCAD facility layout was designed for the 120 sqm space, optimizing workflow from intake to dispatch.
Equipment selection was strategically optimized for budget and redundancy: 2× 50kg industrial washers were chosen over 1× 100kg unit, ensuring the business could continue operating even if one machine was down for maintenance. Paired with 2× 50kg industrial dryers, the setup provides balanced washing-to-drying throughput.
A 2-roller flatwork ironer (3.3m width) provides adequate speed for startup volume with ample room to grow as the client base expands. A towel folder completes the finishing line, delivering hotel-quality results that differentiate the business from manual competitors.
All equipment runs on 380V 3-phase power, fully compatible with standard generator backup. HOZO conducted remote video-guided installation — no engineer on-site was needed — followed by comprehensive operator training via video call, getting the team production-ready before the first hotel contract.
THE RESULTS
Measurable Impact
