Why Dedicated Pillowcase Processing Outperforms General-Purpose Ironing
Pillowcases are one of the highest-volume items in any hotel or commercial laundry — yet most operations still process them on full-width flatwork ironers designed for bed sheets. The result: wasted energy heating unused roller width, slower throughput per piece, and unnecessary wear on equipment built for heavier loads.
Why 1,400 mm is the right width. Standard pillowcases measure 500–700 mm. A 1,400 mm ironer fits exactly two pillowcases side by side — dual-lane input with zero wasted roller width. On a conventional 3,300 mm flatwork ironer (effective heated width ~2,800 mm), even four oversized 700 mm pillowcases in parallel only cover 2,800 mm, leaving at least 500 mm of steam energy heating empty roller surface.
