THE CHALLENGE
Extreme Seasonal Demand Across Multiple Island Properties
A Greek island resort chain faced a unique operational challenge: 5 months of near-100% occupancy from May through September, followed by 7 months of minimal operation. This extreme seasonality meant existing ironing capacity was woefully inadequate during peak season, yet investing in equipment that sits idle for more than half the year required careful justification.
Outsourcing during peak season proved unreliable — when every hotel on the island hits maximum occupancy simultaneously, local laundry services are overwhelmed. Inter-island linen transport was logistically complex and prohibitively expensive, ruling out a centralized processing model.
Adding to the engineering challenge, all equipment needed to withstand the harsh salt air environment and high humidity typical of Greek island locations, where standard steel components can corrode within a single season.
THE SOLUTION
Independent Ironing + Folding Lines for Each Property
HOZO equipped 3 island properties with independent ironing and folding lines, eliminating the need for inter-island linen transport entirely. Each property operates as a self-sufficient laundry unit capable of handling its own peak-season volume.
The core of each line is the YZ-3300 3-roller flatwork ironer (steam heated, 3.3m working width), chosen for its balanced throughput during peak season while maintaining simplicity for off-season maintenance. Six units were deployed across the three properties, with two ironers per location providing redundancy and parallel processing capacity.
A critical bottleneck was identified during the planning phase: small pieces like pillowcases were consuming approximately 35% of the main ironer capacity. HOZO solved this by installing dedicated HPT-1400 pillowcase ironing lines at each property, completely freeing the main ironers to focus on sheets and large flatwork.
ZD-3300V automatic folders and GSB feeders complete each line, creating a fully automated workflow from feeding to finished, folded linen. All equipment features stainless steel construction specifically for salt air resistance. A seasonal maintenance program with remote diagnostics ensures equipment is properly winterized during the off-season and ready to perform when the first guests arrive in May.

Measurable Impact
