GLX-100 Barrier Washer Extractor: Specifications and Where It Fits
The GLX-100 is a 100 kg barrier washer extractor for laundries that have to keep soiled and clean linen apart. It is a single-chamber, double-door pass-through machine: soiled linen is loaded on one side of the partition wall and clean linen is unloaded on the other, so the two never share a room.
Key specifications
- Drum: Ø1,060 × 1,225 mm, about 1,080 litres, or roughly 10.8 litres per kilogram of rated load. The usual industry benchmark is 10 L/kg. You can check any machine the same way: measure the drum, work out its volume and divide by the rated capacity.
- Extraction: 600 rpm, up to 220 G. Barrier machines run slightly below open washer extractors of the same size on G-force.
- Drive: 11 kW motor on a 15 kW inverter.
- Utilities: about 55 kg/h of steam and about 1,500 litres of water per one-wash, two-rinse cycle. Steam heating is standard at this size; electric heating only on special request.
- Footprint: 2,200 × 1,450 × 1,900 mm, 2,400 kg.
Where it fits: hospitals, pharmaceutical plants, food processing and the medical linen line of a central laundry. A hospital does not strictly need a barrier washer, since a standard washer extractor can wash hospital linen. Where infection control rules call for physical separation of soiled and clean areas, a barrier machine is the usual choice. For wards and clinics with smaller volumes and less floor space, the 50 kg GLX-50 is the better fit.

GLX-100 Running Costs, Materials and Certification
Hygiene barrier, and what it costs: The pass-through structure that separates soiled and clean sides is the reason this machine exists. Running it takes about 7.92 kWh, 1,500 litres per one-wash, two-rinse cycle, and 100 L/h of compressed air.
Steam only, by design: The GLX barrier range is built around steam heating, at roughly 55 kg per hour. That is lower than the equivalent non-barrier 100 kg machine, because the cycle profile in infection-control work differs from general commercial washing.
What sits behind the drum: TWB heavy-duty bearings, Timken-licensed and rated for commercial laundry duty, with SOC V-type water seals and 304 stainless steel on water-contact parts. In hospital service, where cycles run daily for years, these are the parts that determine when the machine first needs opening up.
For tender documentation: CE certification covers the Machinery, Low Voltage and EMC Directives, and the company holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Certificate reference numbers are supplied on request, which hospital and public tenders normally require. Lead time is usually 10 to 15 days from order confirmation.
